She's reported on sports for some of the biggest outlets around the globe. The time she worked at The Washington Post was spent with several Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis, football and basketball. Nichols was a reporter for nine years during her stint at ESPN where she was awarded the two Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top programs, including NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Additionally, she worked as an anchor for Monday Night Football on the network. Her next assignment was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded, a show that she co-produced and hosted airs each day on CNN International. Over 1 billion viewers watched it worldwide. During this time Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts including regular season, playoffs, and All-Star broadcast teams. She also reported for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old record that a woman is included among the over 200 candidates.
